5 Must Read Trail Running Books
1. North (by Scott Jurek)
I was fortunate to catch Scott Jurek at a book signing in New York City when North was first released. North is about ultrarunner Scott Jurek’s Appalachian Trail speed run attempt. If you’re looking for inspiration, you’re sure to find it somewhere in the pages of this book.
2. Sky Runner (by Emelie Forsberg)
My teen ultra runner had the opportunity to meet Emelie Forsberg at a Sky Runner book signing in Chamonix. This book is a beautiful book–a great gift for any trail or mountain runner. It contains beautiful photos, inspiring training advice, recipes, and yoga for runners exercises.
3. Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen (by Christopher McDougall)
If you’ve ever wondered what’s to love about running or why people run, you have to get your hands on a copy of this inspiring book. Many people have said that this book alone inspired them to start running.
4. Depression Hates a Moving Target: How Running With My Dog Brought Me Back From the Brink (by Nita Sweeney)
A memoir that will tug at your heart, remind you that self-healing is possible, and inspire you to run–at any age, stage, or phase of life.
5. The Running Dream (by Wendelin Van Draanen)
An inspiring fiction book for young adults (and adults, too). A book that will give you all the feels and motivate you to get outside running.
